Christmas Traditions

In all cultures and traditions, we all have different ways to celebrate Christmas. In Latin culture there is a unique way to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We certainly have traditional foods such as religious ceremonies and famous punch, posol, tamares. But we also celebrate the house of the whole family. We have music, dancing and of course staying up all night. The most important way to celebrate our POSDA is to make Baby Jesus home. Posadas is one of the typical activities of Christmas celebration in Latin America.

Christmas tradition: The Christmas tradition has a sense of a way that transcends time - You may see the same accessories, sing the same songs, and eat the same food for your lifetime. Indeed, some Christmas traditions have been around for a long time. They have roots of pre-Christian origins, derived from celebrations of heathen winter solstices and Roman celebrations. Other traditions are relatively modern. Some important festival traditions include decoration, activities and food. Many of today's traditions derive from winter festivals before Christianity. These include the importance of evergreen shrubs and candles made from wood and decoration, symbolizing eternal light and life. Other traditional decorations include bells, candles, crutches, stockings, garlands, angels. The traditional Christmas color is red and symbolizes the blood of Jesus. Jesus is swept over the cross, and green symbolizes eternal life. On Christmas day people gathered in the church and prayed to God.

Christmas traditions in Australia and New Zealand share many similarities with British, Irish, American and Canadian traditions. This means a song like a red fur Santa Claus riding on a sled, 'Jingle Bell', and a variety of Christmas scenes with Christmas cards and decorations. But Christmas happened due to the weather warming during the summer of the Southern Hemisphere. And it brought about the development of some local traditions.

Christmas in the United States is still mixed Europe celebration, so it is appropriate to call the American Christmas celebration unique. Current Christmas traditions and images of the United States include Christmas trees in Germany, Christmas cards in the UK, Christmas cookies in the Netherlands. Our modern Santa borrowed from the early letters of Europe, but he was a unique creator of America (Belk 1987). For certain Christmas traditions, such as Christmas dinner, charity to the poor, role transformation, other social tension relief mechanisms, there are roots before Christianity. However, most of the Christmas celebrations that are currently taking place, such as family, card exchange, gift exchange, decorated Christmas tree, Christmas shopping, Santa Claus, Christmas carol, Christmas cookie, candy, etc. have appeared and reproduced mostly during the Victorian era I will. 1985, Golby and Purdue 1986)
